Top Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic and this week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

1. The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey – I think this Beauty & The Beast retelling would be an amazing story to see on the big screen. There are so many neat mythological beings that would add wonder and beauty to such a film, and adding a magical twist to historical events is an automatic win in my books.
2. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion – There’s probably already a film in the works for this book, and I will totally go see it when it happens. Although I use Sheldon from Big Bang Theory as a comparison for Don all the time, I hope they don’t use Jim Parsons as the actor for this part because it needs to be someone new to differentiate the book from being seen as just a BBT knockoff.
3. After the Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn – Super hero movies are all the rage right now, and Watchmen did well enough, so I can totally see this book making it to screen.
4. We Are Not Eaten by Yaks by C. Alexander London – OMG, this series would be a hilarious kids TV show! I imagine it would be something like The Wild Thornberrys. There is so much action and so much craziness.
5. The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen – This series is already like Game of Thrones for kids, so it might as well be a TV series as well. I can imagine the lead-up to the big reveal being a major cliffhanger that would happen at the end of Season 1, just to mess with people.
6. Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve – This needs to be a Studio Ghibli movie. Giant cities roaming around the countryside is 100% Hayao Miyazaki material.
7. The Mysterious Howling by Maryrose Wood – The illustrations in these books are already adorable and I need more! I would love to see this series made into a traditional animation movie. Get on it, Disney!
8. Soulless by Gail Carriger – The vampire and werewolf craze might be over for now, but throw in some steampunk corsets and a hefty dose of humour and I am sure this would rival True Blood for it’s awesomeness.
9. A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee – There aren’t enough young female spy/detective series out there, so I’m nominating Y.S. Lee’s The Agency series as a possible rival to Murdoch Mysteries on Canadian television.
10. The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B by Teresa Toten – Forget making another John Green book into a movie… give Teresa Toten a chance! This adorable and quirky story is sure to make audiences laugh, cry, and flock to theatres.
