Wishlist Wednesday: ‘Wink Poppy Midnight’ by April Genevieve Tucholke

Tell me you didn’t look at that cover of Wink Poppy Midnight and immediately want the book. According to many of the reviews I’ve read about it, the writing is supposed to be equally as beautiful. Some people found the story to be confusing, but it could be because there are three unreliable narrators all trying to tell their side of the story.

Synopsis: Every story needs a hero.
Every story needs a villain.
Every story needs a secret.

Wink is the odd, mysterious neighbor girl, wild red hair and freckles. Poppy is the blond bully and the beautiful, manipulative high school queen bee. Midnight is the sweet, uncertain boy caught between them. Wink. Poppy. Midnight. Two girls. One boy. Three voices that burst onto the page in short, sharp, bewitching chapters, and spiral swiftly and inexorably toward something terrible or tricky or tremendous.

What really happened?
Someone knows.
Someone is lying.

This seems like one of those “love it or hate it” types of books, with very little in between. I’m curious though, so on the TBR list it goes!

What did you add to your reading list this week?

  1. Ah, I’ve been seeing this around lately as well. There’s something sinister about it despite the cutesy cover and the teen-drama-ish sypnopsis. It looks like one charming book.
