Q: What book/books got a lot of hype but were a disappointment for you? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
A: The most recent time this happened to me was with Sarah J Maas’ latest book House of Earth and Blood. In her previous works, the characters were built up and easy to care about from the very beginning. This latest attempt at adult fantasy was so slow to develop because Maas was trying to build her world first and the characters second. As a fan of her books, this was a huge disappointment because I wanted to love it, and everyone was so excited about her first foray into “adult” fiction. Of course, it also didn’t help that her YA novels had more sizzle in them than this book.
