How is it already August?!?!?! Seriously people, this year is just a mess. Anyway, I haven’t taken the time to do a TTT post in a while, and this seemed pretty easy (boy, was I mistaken!), so I’m having a go at it. I’m trying to schedule my time better, and with one less real world job to worry about, I’m hoping that I can dedicate a bit more time to this and other bookish pursuits.

I picked up this book on a whim when I was struggling to find something light to read. I really need to get back to the series because I enjoyed the first book very much.

I’ve watched the series on TV, but even though I have always meant to read this book, it keeps slipping my mind. Maybe this is the year I try it?
Butterfly Yellow

Like many of us, I am guilty of not branching out and reading lesser known YA authors. This book is a Vietnamese immigrant story, which is a topic that I haven’t read about yet.
Blue Adept

When I was in highschool I discovered Piers Anthony and went on a Xanth bender, but this lesser known series by the author is one that has stuck in my head for years.
Anne of Green Gables

Most people read these books when they were kids, but for whatever reason I didn’t discover Anne Shirley until I was an adult. I need to read the rest of the series some day.
Tolstoy and the Purple Chair

I love this series for so many reasons, but mainly because it imagines classical authors to be caretakers of a magical multiverse where places like Neverland and Avalon are real.
The Black Swan
by Mercedes Lackey
This retelling of the swan princess is one of my all-time favourite books by Mercedes Lackey. The main character is strong and smart, and does so much to save her sisters.
The Picture of Dorian Gray
by Oscar Wilde
This is one of those books that most people know the story, but many haven’t read. It was far more descriptive than I expected, and Wilde really focused on flowers a lot.
Get a Life, Chloe Brown
by Talia Hibbert
I really liked the characters and fun plot of this book. What nerdy girl wouldn’t want a handsome man to take them on life changing adventures in payment for building a website?

The Literary Counsellor 
BUTTERFLY YELLOW is on my list today as well. I’ve read very few books (maybe none?) about the Vietnam War, especially from the POV of Vietnamese people. This one sounds unique and intriguing.

I love that cover of Anne of Green Gables! I may try Butterfly Yellow, I’ve read a lot of books set in Asia so I’m always on the lookout for more.
