This year I have decided to take my mental health needs more seriously. Working retail during the holidays is exhausting, and I can honestly tell you that a pandemic holiday season was even harder. Sure, there were less customers in the store, but they all needed so much more assistance. Meanwhile, I have a habit of taking on far more work than I should, so not only was I working a full-time job in the bookstore, but I also agreed to do work on two other projects during November. It was dumb, and I burnt out quickly.
Now my province is once again in lockdown, and even though I knew I should take the much-needed break there was an opportunity to help with online customer service. Instead of listening to my inner voice that was screaming for some down-time, I said yes because I have been trained to believe that I should always be working. Luckily, my inner voice refused to stop shouting at me, and after a full day of struggling to focus, trying to convince myself that I “need” to do this, I decided to listen to it. So I called my boss and said that I needed to change my mind. I need the time off. And so I’m taking it easy, working on my blog and other things I enjoy, and allowing myself time to heal.

Last Week On The Blog
I have a bunch more posts scheduled for this upcoming week, which I’m pretty excited for. I spent most of my time this week building up a buffer of posts. I’ll have to keep working on it so that I don’t fall behind.

Off the Blog
I finished the Nancy Drew puzzle a lot faster than I had expected. Once I started matching up the colour of book titles and font sizes, it came together very easily. So this week I moved on to a cute dog puzzle. Once again, font size and colour played a bit part in getting this one done fairly quickly.
Do you like to put puzzles together? What do you do with them when you are done?
I trade puzzles with friends and family who are also doing them during lockdown. So once I’m done and have taken a moment to appreciate my work, I pack it all back up in the box and send it on to the next person. They can do whatever they wish with their final product. I just enjoy the challenge.
