Book Blogger Hop: Completely unlikable…

Q: What is your least favorite type of character to read about? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)

A: I really don’t like the “spoiled rich kid” character. My brain just can’t get over the entitlement.

“Oh no… my personal chef made waffles for breakfast when he should know that I only eat orange slices dipped in gold! How embarrassing!”

This is probably why I couldn’t appreciate ‘We Were Liars’ like so many others have. I just disliked all the characters. Okay, great, your dad is literally offering to take you on a trip to Rome for the summer and you are upset that you won’t get to hang out with your friends on your grandparent’s private island. Cry me a river… 🙄

Do you have a least favourite character type?

  1. My least favourite type is the smart alec done unironically.

“I bowed and kissed the lady’s hand. This is basic courtesy every man should know. Even the peasants.”

There have been a couple of books with Gary Sue characters like this recently and boy did it irk me to read them.

  2. I wasn’t crazy about ‘We Were Liars’ (it was okay,) and I didn’t really care for any of the characters either. I don’t like spoiled rich kid characters unless there’s more to them/more serious problems than meets the eye. For example, I like Ben from the show ‘Never Have I Ever.’
